There was one of these on CL a couple of years back that needed restoration and was missing the supercharger. Would have been a good candidate for a swap of a ‘55 Olds V8 with a J2 setup.

My first car was 1966 Corsa 140 hp in 1968 ($1250.00); tried to keep it in family but it did not hold up well when it was in storage while I was away and for over 35 years. I have sentimental/"what if" feelings when I see them today.

#498 is in my garage right now. He needs to research his facts better. There were 400 built in 57 and 304 in 58 so a bit hard to sell 800 as stated. Also the price was closer to $13,500. The only option was air conditioning. Once I heard the 800 figure I had to give up.

Amazing they predicted in 1955 that by now we would all be flying cars to work... But they didnt predict the internet or smartphones. Or the pet rock!

This is amazing, to hear such utter trash and falsehoods. This is literally insane what this guy is saying about the car. First, there is no connection to Studebaker. Raymond Lowey had finished up his work with Studebaker and didn't return to do work for them until 1962. Second, Lowey didn't go to GM and order a car special. He bought the car in France at a Cadillac Dealer and did his own customization. In fact, he claimed the the entire cost of the job was offset by the sales of the parts he removed from the car. He sold the parts in France. He's been interviewed many times about this car and there is much history. The guy telling this nonsense story is doing a disservice to automotive history. Studebaker was no different than any of the others at the time and going full force with Chrome and fins.......That's why Lowey wasn't working for them. Studebaker took the beautiful 53 Lowey Cars of Studebaker and plastered them with chrome and fins to Lowey's horror. Lowey did this car and toured the world to showcase how a big car could be beautiful with out Fins or Chrome. It was anti Detroit, anti Cadillac in spirit. This guy in this video is all messed up and literally has all his myths and stories wrong.

The finest French car museum in the US, but if you can't go to France, go to Tampa, Florida. The Tampa Bay Auto Museum, run by the Cerf family, has a fine representation of French cars. They also built and operate a replica of the Cugnot steam carriage.
